About Us

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

Our vision is to provide a Christian-based, in-person, homeschool support group for students of all needs. We strive to offer a loving environment where students are taught to be the valuable individual that he/she was created to be. Each student will have an educational plan that is tailor-made to meet the students’ needs and backgrounds. We understand that education is not a ‘cookie cutter’ method.

One-on-one tutoring is our culture. Students are not only encouraged but expected to ask questions and seek assistance when needed. The staff is patient and willing to go the extra mile in order for students to succeed.

GRADE LEVELS

Elementary and Middle School

Our elementary and middle school student program is student centric. Using a variety of methods, we focus on the four core subjects: English/Reading, Science, Social Studies, and Math. Upon entry, students will participate in a diagnostic test and will be placed according to his/her level. With the heavy involvement of the staff, the students work to gain skills necessary to be successful throughout his/her school career. Students of many different levels attend FCA and each student will have a plan tailor made to their needs.

Since FCA is in session a half-day, parents are encouraged to explore their child’s interests in planning afternoon educational activities. For example the student may want to become involved in a sport, music class, or art class. Staff will assist parents in finding activities to broaden the education of each child. Homeschool is becoming a big exciting world of excellent education and we can help you and your child experience it!

High School

Our high school student program is student centric. Using a variety of methods, we focus on the four core subjects: English/Reading, Science, History, and Math. Upon entry, students will participate in a diagnostic test and will be placed according to his/her level.

Since FCA is in session a half-day, parents are encouraged to explore their child’s interests in planning afternoon educational activities for their child. For example the student may want to become involved in a sport, music class, or art class. Staff will assist parents in finding activities to broaden the education of each child.

Many FCA high school students choose earn income while attending school. School hours are conducive to employment and students may find a job to obtain skills to assist in the future.

Many FCA students choose to participate in dual enrollment through one of the local colleges. We have Dual Enrollment Agreements with UAH,  Troy University, Calhoun Community College, Drake State Technical College, and Northeast Community Colleges.

As the student approaches graduation, the staff will ensure that all of the requirements for graduation are met and will assist parents to ensure the student is successful and help develop a post-graduation plan.

DAILY ROUTINE

Students meet in-person, five days a week from 8:30 – 12:00 at Endeavor Church. The students will work independently at their desks on designated curriculum, have hands on classes, and receive tutoring throughout the day. Students may have a 30 minute break during the day based on the schedule. Chapel and Bible study are offered weekly, as well.

FACULTY INVOLVEMENT

Teachers are heavily involved in the students’ progress throughout the day. Tutors are available on an approximately 6:1 ratio. As students are progressing through their work, tutors will offer assistance, identify and practice additional skills required for success, and encourage students on a personal level. We all need positive encouragement and students will receive it at FCA. The staff is dedicated to educating and building the self-esteem and confidence of each child.

CURRICULUM

The main curriculum that is used is Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.). “The A.C.E. program is designed around a new format: that of building skill upon skill. The scope and sequence ignores the concept of grade level and moves with continuous progress beginning with the first skill to be mastered. Depending on their ability and motivation levels, students may move ahead rapidly or take as long as necessary, but each student masters the material.” To find out more about A.C.E., click here.

Additional materials and projects are used to help gain mastery in the four core subjects: English, Math, Science, and History/Social Studies. We offer hands on classes, as well as teacher led classes and activities. Through a partnership with Endeavor Learning Lab, hands on science classes may be offered to students during school hours. In addition to classes offered during school hours, Endeavor Learning Lab offers interesting and beneficial courses open to all homeschoolers outside of our normal school hours.
